The University of North dakota Police Department utilizes Building Security Personnel and Police Officers to provide security and law enforcement patrols of campus buildings on a 24 hour seven day a week basis.

UND Police Officers and/or Building Security Officers respond to emergency calls to all campus buildings including, fire and security alarms, medical assist calls, and any other cdalls that are of a police or security concern. Officers also secure the buildings in the academic areas on a daily basis.

Should your department have an after hours building opening or late closing request we ask that you fax a memo to the UND Police Department at least 24 hours in advance of the opening or late closing request. The UND Police Department Fax number is 777-6474. To ensure that we have received your fax we also request that you make a follow-up phone call to our department during regular business hours of 8am to 4:30 pm at ext. 777-3491 to verify that we have received your request for the after hours building opening or late closing.

In order to protect the safety and welfare of students and employees of the University and to protect the property of the University, all persons on property under the jurisdiction of the University shall identify themselves upon request of a uniformed UND Police or Security Officer. A person identifies himself/herself by diving his/her name and complete address; date of birth, and by stating truthfully his/her relationship witht he University. A person may be asked for some form of identification. If any person refuses or fails upon request to present evidence of his/her identification and it reasonably appears that the person has no legitimate reason to be on the campus or in the facility, the person may be ejected from the campus or facility. In addition if the person is a student he/she may be subject to on-campus disciplinary actions.
